  8. It all began almost an year ago, when for the first time I needed to  send
  9. a  fax...  "Well",  I  said,  "I've  got  a  fax modem, I can send it from
  10. home...".
  11.  
  12. Unfortunately I had no fax software: the ones provided with the modem were
  13. just for MS-Dos and Windows, as usual.
  14.  
  15. So I started looking around for fax programs for my Amiga: there were only
  16. two  commercial packages, but as I'm almost always out-of-money, I thought
  17. it was a good idea to look in the shareware before.
  18.  
  19. I did, but with no luck: I just saw a couple of programs, one  worst  than
  20. the other.
  21.  
  22. Thus, I sat down and began to type...
  23.  
  24. I tried to put in STFax all the functions I thought I would need, like:
  25.  
  26.     - Support for all the faxmodem classes (1, 2, 2.0)
  27.     - Nice, handy user interface
  28.     - Phonebook
  29.     - Scheduler
  30.     - Reports
  31.     - ARexx port
  32.     - Datatypes support for image conversion
  33.     - On-line help
  34.     - Printer driver to redirect all print-outs to a fax file
  35.  
  36. and so on...

  39. Changes since last Aminet release:
  40.  
  41.     2.87    11/07/97    - The position of the AppIcon can be set by the
  42.                           user.
  43.                         - Fixed the 'stripes' problem of some  Class  1
  44.                           modems.
  45.                         - Faxes  can   be   transmitted   even  if  the
  46.                           connection is already up (for example, if you
  47.                           call someone or receive a voice call).
  48.                         - Added an edit hook to Date and  Time  gadgets
  49.                           in the scheduler requester.
  50.                         - Support for 24 bits IFF images (OS 3.0+)
  51.                         - Images can be scaled when converting them  to
  52.                           fax.
  53.                         - Removed Enforcer Hit when  switching  to  1:1
  54.                           scale in the viewer.
  55.                         - Improved the behaviour of the scheduler.
  56.                         - New timeout: Requesters.
  57.                         - Swapped the rotation verse of the Rotate ±90°
  58.                           function of the viewer to make it  consistent
  59.                           with other programs.
  60.                         - Minor bugs fixed.
